The Wachusett Area Rotary Club has been hosting a breakfast for Seniors for more than 25 years, taking a break only during the COVID quarantine period in 2020. Prior to COVID, the breakfast was held during the December holidays. Due to the pandemic, the event changed to a valentine “grab-and-go” lunch – where the club assembled and delivered bagged lunches to Seniors through local Senior Centers. The complimentary lunches included a lasagna meal prepared by The Manor and accompanied by candy hearts and valentine cards handmade by local elementary school students. The 2023 event represents the first year the club is returning to an in-person breakfast event.

“We are excited to be able to again host an in-person breakfast to bring some cheer to our local seniors this Valentine’s Day,” said Richard Traina, Chairman of the event. “We know this time of year can be difficult for many seniors, and we are more than glad to host an event where seniors can come together, connect with each other, and enjoy a nice breakfast. Service is at the heart of rotary and this project is just one of many ways that our club gives back to the communities where we live and work.”

Rotary is an international membership organization made up of people who share a passion for and commitment to enhancing communities and improving lives across the world. The Wachusett Area Rotary offers many opportunities for our members to get involved and make a difference in the local community, including the Hearts of Rotary Senior Citizens Valentine’s Breakfast, donating coats for kids each winter, coordinating plastic recycling collections, providing scholarships to local students and more. Club activities are funded through their annual Golf Tournament, hosted each year in the Fall.
