February may be the shortest month of the year, but it was a big one for the Wachusett Area Rotary Club. In February we were thrilled to host a well-attended Left–Right–Center (LRC) Tournament that brought together friends, neighbors, and community members from across the Wachusett area for an evening of fun—all in support of local service.
The event was a great success, not only as a lively social gathering during the winter months, but also as a fundraiser that helps support the Club’s charitable initiatives throughout the year. From youth programs to scholarships and local community support efforts, funds raised from events like our LRC Tournament go right back into the communities we serve. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, volunteered their time, or helped spread the word - community participation is what makes events like this possible and impactful. We plan to have our next LRC Tournament in October.
In keeping with our commitment to supporting local students, the Wachusett Area Rotary Club is now accepting applications for its 2026 scholarships. This year, the Club will award two $3,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to attend college in the fall of 2026. Applicants must reside in the club’s service area which consists of Holden, Rutland, Paxton, Sterling, Princeton, West Boylston, or Boylston, and have demonstrated meaningful community involvement along with academic standing of note. Students interested in applying should download and complete the 2026 scholarship application available at www.wachusettarearotaryclub.org and submit the signed application along with a copy of their transcript by email to WARotaryClub@gmail.com no later than April 15.
The Club is also seeking two high school sophomores from our service area to attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), a three-day, two-night leadership conference held at Fitchburg State University. Students from across Massachusetts gather for interactive sessions, presentations, activities, and workshops focused on:
- Leadership Fundamentals
- Ethics
- Communication Skills
- Problem Solving
- Conflict Management
- Global Citizenship
RYLA is offered at no cost to the student, with the Rotary Club covering all expenses except transportation to and from the event. Interested students should reach out to the Club by email at WARotaryClub@gmail.com for more information.
